Jill Atwood ReportingNew information tonight on that disturbing story out of Tooele High School we first told you about last night. Police now confirm five or six baseball players were involved in videotaping sexual misconduct with a young woman.
Eyewitness News has also learned today that the girl involved is a high school student from Weber County. Also, not all of the teens involved were minors, some of them are in fact 18. Now the difficult task of analyzing the videotape begins.
The incident happened sometime in early March when the Buffalo's baseball team was in St. George for a tournament. The Tooele police chief says they heard rumors that some sexual misconduct went on between several players and a young girl. Those rumors turned out to be true after a videotape materialized showing disturbing sexual images.
Right now Southern Utah investigators are trying to figure out exactly where it happened. The team stayed in two different places: Washington City at the Red Cliffs Inn and St. George at the Bluff Street Motel. The location of the incident will determine who handles the investigation, St. George Police or Washington County.
Then of course there is the question of what's on the tape? Is there a crime being committed? Was it consensual? This case may turn out to be very complicated.
Tooele Police Chief Ron Kirby say charges of exploitation of a minor may be pressed in Tooele County for possessing the tape, but they stress this investigation in very early.
