Tonya Papanikolas reporting One man is recovering from surgery and police are looking for two others in connection with a shooting early this morning in Roy.
It all started when a man ran to a neighbor's house saying he'd been shot.
The victim ran out the back of the home along a frontage road. He apparently ran until he found a house without a fence, ran up to the door, and started yelling and making noise.
“Guy just come up to our door, banged on our door, saying he had been shot”, said Mickey Martinez. “So we grabbed him, set him down on the couch, then dialed 911.”
The man was taken to the hospital. He had been shot in the stomach. The victim underwent surgery and is expected to recover.
The Police and SWAT team members traced the shooting back to a home located at 2275 West in Roy. They secured the home and evacuated about seven homes in the area.
Police say 52-year-old William Ransom and 63-year-old William Rezendes were home at the time of the shooting. Police say they believe the home where the shooting apparently occurred, belonged to Ransom.
Police were not sure if there were any suspects inside the home and had to wait until they secured a search warrant to enter the home. They made their way inside the home just before 10 a-m but there was no one inside.
Police searched a couple of sheds in the backyard of the home, and found a meth lab with drug paraphernalia. Police say it was not up and running this morning, so there was no threat to neighbors. Hazmat crews are on the scene now.
Roy police are now processing the home for evidence and are looking for the two men they believe were inside the home at the time of the shooting.
Both men have previous charges against them. Ransom has been charged in the past with reckless driving, possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. Rezendes was convicted of rape in 1975, he was also charged with forcible sex abuse.
