PROVO, Utah (AP) -- Entertainer Donny Osmond has been honored as an Outstanding Citizen by the Provo-Orem Chamber of Commerce.
The chamber cited Osmond for his loyalty to the Utah Valley community.
"I just love the fact that I'm a normal person here in Provo," Osmond, 46, said in accepting the award Wednesday night. "I've received many accolades, but it's extra special to receive recognition from people in your community."
Osmond said that during a recent trip to London, he was asked to sing his hit song "Puppy Love" for a television station.
Adolescent girls crowded the platform, and began screaming wildly when the song began, he said.
Osmond said he stopped and asked, "Why are you screaming?"
One 16-year-old answered, "Because our moms told us to."
