(Salt Lake City-AP) -- Prominent polygamist John Daniel Kingston is fighting for custody of two of his ten children.
The two girls ages 15 and 13 testified at the trial today that began two weeks ago.
The pair were taken from the home after they were allegedly threatened for getting their ears pierced. The state is trying to prove Kingston and his purported wife, Heidi Foster, participated in a decade-long pattern of abusing and neglecting their ten children.
The 13-year-old testified that she's been told in the past that it's OK to lie to protect her family. When asked why, she said it was because the family was breaking the law.
But the 15-year-old testified today that she was never threatened by Kingston.
The trial could conclude today.
