(KSL News) -- Former Senator Jake Garn worked closely with President Reagan during his time in office.
Garn last saw Mr. Reagan about 8 years ago, and he said the effects of the Alzheimer's was already evident.
Garn, like so many others, says Ronald Reagan was a driven man, who knew how to get things done.
Jake Garn, Former U.S. Senator: "He knew where he wanted to go, what he wanted to achieve and politics had nothing to do with it, and that's what I want to accomplish. And that's why I admired him so much."
Garn says he especially remembers one phone call he received from President Reagan. It was during Garn's space shuttle mission. The president called from the White House to wish the crew well.
