(KSL News) -- A body found floating in the Jordan River appears to be that of a homeless man.
Fire officials say they've recovered a body from the Jordan River in Salt Lake City. The fire department received the call just after 4 p.m. this afternoon.
Salt Lake City Fire spokesman Dennis McKone says witnesses reported hearing a person's voice upstream and then spotted a body in the river under the bridge at North Temple and the Jordan River.
McKone says it appears the person drowned. Rescuers pulled the body from the river and they're waiting for a medical examiner to arrive on scene.
The Salt Lake City fire department put rescuers in the water, and after about thirty minutes they recovered the body beneath the North Temple bridge.
The medical examiner's office is investigating.
