Kimberly Houk reporting Right now residents of Syracuse are bailing water out of their homes, after they were flooded by heavy rain.
The storms started last night, and by the time they were over, a big mess remained. The rain was so powerful if overpowered the drainage system.
Nearly 100 homes in the area of 34th South 1000 West in Syracuse are facing some sort of flooding problem.
Cleanup crews have been working hours pumping water and cleaning mud out of basements.
One homeowner, Lesile, awoke at 6 am. to find her basement flooded by water over a foot and a half deep
Lesile, Homeowner: “I thought for a minute that my pictures had fallen off. But then I realized they were all floating in the water.”
The force of the water had also blown the basement door off of its hinges.
Lesile, Homeowner: “We have been working on this since six. The whole community has shown up to help us.”
