(Salt Lake City-AP) -- The polls open this morning at 7 a-m for today's primary.
Among the biggest races are Jon Huntsman, Junior who squares off against state Board of Regents Chairman Nolan Karras for the Republican nomination for governor. The winner will face Democrat Scott Matheson, Junior in the November election.
Matheson's late father was the last Democrat to hold the governor's job, serving two terms between 1976 and 1984.
Other races today include Tim Bridgewater and John Swallow for the 2nd Congressional District and Representative Chris Cannon and Matt Throckmorton in the 3rd District.
There are no major Democratic contests today, but there are local contests in Summit, Wasatch, Millard, and Wayne Counties along with a Democratic primary in a Rose Park state Senate district. Polls close tonight at 8.
