Amanda Butterfield reportingA popular restaurant in Midvale goes up in flames.
A two-alarm fire broke out at the Imperial Gourmet restaurant at 7200 S. State Street around 10:30 last night.
Right now it looks like this was just an unfortunate accident.
Smoke poured from the roof of the Imperial Gourmet restaurant. Because the restaurant is located in a strip mall, a second alarm was called.

Firefighters from Sandy, West Jordan, South Jordan, Salt Lake County and Midvale responded.
Capt. Jay Thomas/ Midvale Fire Dept.: "These businesses are pretty close together, so it takes a huge amount of resources to make sure we don't have that fire spread. So it's more of a precautionary that way."
Fortunately the fire did not spread to nearby businesses.
As for the restaurant, firefighters say a large fire was burning in the roof and it may have started in the exhaust system.
Although the investigation into the exact cause is just getting started, fire officials say the blaze may have been sparked by an equipment malfunction or possibly grease buildup.
Firefighters were able to keep the fire contained to the kitchen, but there is plenty of smoke damage, and this restaurant won't be open for a long time.
The resturant was closed at the time of the fire and no one was hurt.
