KANE COUNTY -- It's been a long time coming, and now it looks like Kane County will finally get a new jail.
Sheriff's officials say the demand often exceeds the 22 inmate capacity the current jail was intended for. The new building would house up to 200 inmates and would cost $15 million to build.
According the Salt Lake Tribune, the building will be paid for, in part, from a federal loan and from state funds. Taxpayer funds would be used as a last resort if other funding falls through.
The building could be finished as early as 2011.
