POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) -- Senior forward David Patten scored 23 points and pulled down seven rebounds, while Brody Van Brocklin came off the bench to add a career-high 14 points to lead Weber State past Idaho State 71-58 in a Big Sky Conference game on Thursday night.
In a matchup of the league's top two teams, the conference-leading Bengals were held to 31 percent shooting from the field and suffered their first home loss of the season.
A layup by center Arturas Veleika gave Weber State (13-9, 6-3) a 4-2 lead early in the first first half and the Wildcats led for the rest of the way.
Idaho State (10-10, 5-2) trimmed its deficit to 16-15 on an 8-0 run that was capped by back-to-back 3-pointers by David Schroeder.
Weber State's biggest lead -- 60-41 -- came with 4:49 remaining as Patten hit a 3-pointer.
Idaho State cut its second-half deficit to 10 points with 1:05 remaining on a 3-point basket by Akbar Abdul-Ahad before Weber State's Dezmon Harris made three of four free-throw attempts in the final 50 seconds.
Idaho State collected 17 offensive rebounds, but was held to only eight second-chance points.
