(KSL News) -- An 18-year old army private with Utah ties died last week during training in South Carolina.

Private Matthew Glen Nish collapsed and died from heat exhaustion during his final week of basic training.

Nish attended schools in Pleasant Grove and Orem, then later moved to Washington. He was looking forward to serving in the Washington National Guard.

Funeral services will be held for Nish in Orem this Friday.
