(KSL News) -- The Salt Lake Police Department and family members held a press conference today with new stunning developments.
Douglas Hacking, Lori's father-in-law announced the family had just learned that Mark, Lori's husband, had never applied for medical school as he had led his family to believe.
Douglas Hacking says the family was under the impression that Mark had applied and been accepted to several medical schools, including UNC where the couple planned to move next week.
Police informed the family today that the university has no record of his acceptance, or even his application.
The family also learned Mark had not graduated from the University of Utah as they believed.
Douglas Hacking: "I have no explanation for this new development. I just can’t understand it. I won’t speculate beyond that, but we will keep you informed as we learn more."
The family emphasizes that this most recent development doesn’t necessarily answer the question as to what happened to Lori. It’s a piece of new, shocking info., but it may not have anything to do with what happened to Lori. And they would like to continue doing what we can to find her.
Thelma Soares, Lori's Mom: “Lori is still missing and nothing at this time is more important than the fact that we need to find her and bring her back. We’ll work the other stuff out. Lori is still missing, please help us find her."
