WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (AP) -- A man has pleaded guilty to a charge of automobile homicide after plowing his car into a family, killing a 6-year-old boy.

Tory Lee Jacques, 21, also pleaded guilty Thursday to two counts of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, court spokeswoman Nancy Volmer said.

He faces one to 15 years in prison for the murder charge and zero to five years on each DUI charge when he is sentenced Oct. 1.

Earl Smith was walking three children to a McDonald's in Magna on Oct. 25 when Jacques drove into them.

Darius Smith, who was called Buddha by his family, was pronounced dead at the scene. The father and the other two children were injured.
