(KSL News)A man died this afternoon, when his R-V plummeted into Pineview Reservoir in Weber County.

Sheriff's deputies say his vehicle failed to turn a corner on State Road 39, left the road and headed directly straight for the water.

Witnesses say the R-V skidded over several hundred feet of gravel and dirt, flew over an embankment, landed in the lake and sank.

He was the only person in the R-V.

Divers retrieved the R-V, with the driver still inside.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators aren't sure why the R-V left the road or how the man died.

They say, it appears, he never applied his brakes.
