LEHI -- The Utah Valley Chapter of the BYU Management Society awarded LDS leader Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf the group's Pioneer in Leadership Award Friday night.
The award is given annually to members of the community who exemplify great leadership. The BYU Management Society says Elder Uchtdorf received the award this year because he "exemplifies the kind of leadership that we need in these trying times because of his unwavering dedication to excellence and commitment to the highest principles."
Elder Uchtdorf has an extensive history of service to both his country and his religion. He is currently serving as the second counselor in the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He was honored during a special event at Thanksgiving Point, where he was the featured speaker.
