(KSL News) A man is now in custody after escaping from the inside of a Murray police car.

The suspect was pulled over during a routine traffic stop in the Crystal Inn parking lot at 6600 S. 818 East.

During questioning, police say he started acting strange and started reaching for a large knife hidden in the car door.

The man was handcuffed and put in the police car.

While officers searched his car, the man escaped.

After two hours of searching, and with the help of police dogs, the man was found in the attic of Crystal Inn. He now faces several charges.
