SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Even older drivers need a refresher course.

That's the message from the Department of Public Safety and the American Association of Retired Persons who are teaming up to offer driver safety classes.

The classes start this month and are offered at various locations throughout the valley.

A-A-R-P says brushing up on driving skills couldn't hurt, especially because the last time senior motorists likely took a driver's course was when they were 16-years-old.

Also, the organization says motorists' ability to react to dangerous situations gets slower as they get older.

Utah law also allows for multi-year discounts on insurance premiums for people older than 55 who take the course. Drivers who are interested can call 888-687-2277.
