SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A Salt Lake City councilman is dropping his request to replace the first book in the city's inaugural book club.

But councilman Eric Jergensen says he wants the city council to be more involved in choosing the books in the future.

Jergensen says the New York Times Best Seller "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time," by Mark Haddon contains too many vulgarities for the city-wide book club.

But the mayor's office has refused to replace the book.

The "Salt Lake Reads Together" initiative kicks off September 15th.

The other books on the list are the adult nonfiction "The Blood Runs Like a River Through My Dreams: A Memoir by Nasdijj and the children's book "Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH."
