Amanda Butterfield ReportingWe've certainly seen worse weather, but the overnight rain was enough to cause serious damage to one Ogden school. Hundreds of students were told to stay home this morning.
Nearly 300 students got an early start to the Labor Day weekend after last nights rain caused the flooding at Ogden Prep-Academy Elementary School. Its roof needed repairs and was in the middle of getting fixed when last night's rain started and the leaking began.
Parents who volunteer with the school were called-in to help clear the rooms and spread the word classes were cancelled.
The water caused the most damage in the first grade classroom and, to the disappointment of parents, the library.
Debbie Deem, Parent: "We've got a lot of books that need to be assessed. Our library is new, we put in hundreds of hours putting that together last year."
The roof is expected to be fixed over the weekend, ready for the students when they come back to class on Tuesday, after the Labor Day holiday.
