(KSL News) -- Salt Lake County Mayor Nancy Workman was formally booked into jail last night -- personally escorted through the process by County Sheriff Aaron Kennard.
The mayor smiled as she posed for her booking photograph. She was processed in and out of the jail in less than an hour.
The sheriff said he accompanied Mayor Workman out of respect for her office.
Workman has taken paid leave from her job, but vows to stay in the race for re-election.
An indication she is serious about the race -- the mayor has purchased a large amount of air time to run television campaign commercials -- which will begin airing soon.
