(KSL News) -- A man who kidnapped a five-year old Mapleton boy and attempted to abduct two other Utah County boys is headed to prison.

21-year old Robert Allen Kartchner will spend 15 years to life in prison.

Kartchner abducted the boy last October and took him to Spanish Fork Canyon. There he cut the boy's arm, neck and thigh. Then taped him up and left him under some bushes.

The boy's parents feel justice is served.

Amy Bladh, Victim's Mother: "My son's home. I have my son here. He's going to have a life to go on. Mrs. Kartchner, her son's in prison. That's pathetic to me, absolutely pathetic and sad."

Kartchner pleaded guilty in June. A judge threw out a request from Kartchner's attorney to withdraw the plea based on new information that may provide a defense of mental illness.
