(KSL News) Utah wildlife officials are hunting almost as much as outdoorsmen this moose season.

A moose wandered into a Draper neighborhood this morning. Police followed the animal through the streets to a hill, where authorities tranquilized and marked it with paint so hunters would leave it alone.

Sgt. Scott White/ Wildlife Resources: "Surprisingly not a place where we would usually find a moose. We were a little skeptical at first, but it appears the moose probably followed the canal down."

Wildlife officers released the moose in a Salt Lake canyon.

The moose's presence also delayed a nearby wedding party.
