SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A Salt Lake City woman has pleaded guilty to disguising herself in medical scrubs and stealing a 3-day-old baby from a hospital.

Thirty-nine-year-old Elizabeth Marie Alarid, of Salt Lake City, was charged with first-degree felony child kidnapping. She pleaded guilty to a lesser count of second-degree felony child kidnapping.

Alarid left the hospital with the baby, but was found shortly after in a nearby supermarket. The baby was unharmed.

Investigators say Alarid told them she lost her own fetus two months earlier and did not want to tell her family.

She is scheduled to be sentenced on November 22nd.
