(KSL News) -- Five dollars doesn't sound like very much money, but to the folks at 'No More Homeless Pets in Utah', a donation of five dollars a year from every Utah family can save thousands of lives.

The group has started a new campaign: 'Donate 5 to keep Utah's Pets Alive'. Dozens of humans and canines decked out in bright red t-shirts and bandanas to form a giant 5!

Eventually, the goal is to make Utah the first state that doesn't kill healthy dogs and cats.

Gregory Castle, No More Homeless Pets: "96 animals per day are killed in the shelters because there are no homes for them. We want to reduce that to zero."

Donations will go to finding the animal homes,as well as pay for spaying and neutering procedures.
