(KSL News) Charges could be filed soon against a 19-year-old accused of shooting his father during a hunting trip.

Investigators say 61-year-old James Gully was shot in the head by his son Benjamin over the weekend. The Gully Family blames the tragedy on Benjamin's mental illness and say he struggled with the problem for over a year.

Now, those close to the family are coping with the loss.

David Young, Neighbor: "It's tragic. I do feel bad. He's been a good neighbor for a lot of years. He'll be missed."

The family released a statement saying they feared Benjamin might harm himself, but never others. Psychiatrists say unless he exhibited dangerous tendencies, there may not have been anything to alert the family.

Benjamin Gully remains in the Davis County Jail this morning on suspicion of homicide.
