(KSL News) -- People in Ogden may not be able to purchase beer from convenience stores on historic 25th Street beginning next year.

The City Council is considering eliminating Class A beer licenses within 150 feet of the 25th Street district. The Class A license allow stores to sell beer to be consumed off the premises.

Police say the ordinance is needed to reduce the number of alcohol related calls in the area.

A public hearing on the issue is set for 5 pm tonight.
