CENTERVILLE -- A Centerville boy who was hit by a car while riding his bicycle has died.

The boy, identified as Jacob Park of Centerville, was hit while riding in a crosswalk at 400 West and Chase Lane on September 22.

He sustained head injuries in the accident and was flown by medical helicopter to Primary Children's Hospital. Sunday night, his family chose to take him off life support.

The driver of the vehicle, Evelyn Cook of Centerville, has not been charged and the police department does not anticipate filing any charges. It was determined that this crash occurred in low light conditions. The boy was wearing dark clothing, no light was displayed on the bicycle and the bicycle entered the crosswalk suddenly into the path of Cook's vehicle.
