(KSL News) The recent storm has left about 1000 Utah Power customers in the dark this morning.

Crews are working to repair the problem near 5th West and 2nd South.

Utah Power spokesperson Margaret Kessler tells KSL Newsradio that all the rain caused a fire on a power pole, taking out the electricity.

The company warns that extended storms can cause outages, and customers are advised to keep a kit to use when the lights go out. Suggested items include:

  1. flashlight
  2. battery operated radio clock
  3. bottled water
  4. non perishable food
