SALT LAKE CITY (AP/KSL News) -- The Salt Lake City woman accused of kidnapping a newborn from L-D-S hospital is sentenced to a year in jail.

Elizabeth Marie Alarid of Salt Lake City pleaded guilty to second-degree kidnapping. In exchange for the plea, prosecutors reduced the original first-degree kidnapping charge.

Elizabeth Alarid gets credit for most of that time already served.

She was also ordered to pay a fine and court costs.

Alarid told police she took the baby from L-D-S Hospital because she lost her own fetus two months earlier and did not want to tell her family. The baby was returned safely to his mother.
