SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Utah junior quarterback Alex Smith was named Tuesday as one of three finalists for the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award, presented annually to the nation's best college quarterback.
The other finalists are Matt Leinart of Southern California and Jason White of Oklahoma.
Finalists were selected by the O'Brien Selection Committee, a nationwide panel of sportswriters and commentators, and by past O'Brien winners.
The winner will be announced Dec. 9 in Orlando, Fla., and will be honored a second time Feb. 21 at the 28th annual Davey O'Brien Awards Dinner in Fort Worth, Texas.
