(KSL News) -- Wireless carriers aren't the only ones making big bucks off cell phones. The record industry has tuned in to the growing popularity of cellphone ringtones.
From pop to squawking birds, ringtones produced an estimated 375-million dollars in 2004. In 2003 that number was only 18 million.
And what's to come? How about ringbacks. Ringbacks are songs or noises callers hear while waiting for someone to answer the phone.
Some industry analysts estimate by 2008, ringtones and ringbacks could account for 28 percent of all music sales.
