(KSL News) -- Opponents in the Sandy zoning battle involving Wal-Mart today cleared a big hurdle.
The group "Save Our Communities" is trying to reverse a zoning decision to allow Wal-Mart to build in Sandy's last parcel of open space.
The organization had to collect 9500 signatures on a petition to fight for a spot on November's ballot. A spokesperson for the group told us the exact number of signatures is not clear, but more than enough were collected.
The petition is now being presented to the county elections clerk. There are still some legal hurdles to jump before the issue can be placed on the ballot.
