SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A father uses his five-year-old daughter as a shield and rubs pepper spray on her face to avoid arrest.
It began Monday night, near 1500 E. Fort Union Blvd., when the 29-year-old man threw a beer bottle at his girlfriend.
The girlfriend called Salt Lake County deputies. When they arrived the man refused to surrender and began running around the complex holding his daughter.
Officers then used pepper spray to detain the man.
The suspect then put his face next to his daughter's and rubbed the chemical on her.
Deputies eventually freed the girl and arrested the man.
The little girl is now with her mother in Wyoming.
