(KSL News) -- The Draper man who claimed to be a hero for rescuing his family from a fire he later admitted to starting, now faces federal arson charges.

Michael Wold confessed he started the blaze in his family's apartment last November, then rescued his wife, two kids and dog.
A state arson charge against Wold was dismissed yesterday to allow federal prosecution to go forth. It carries harsher penalties.
