SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A West Valley man accused of killing his wife and child says he was following God's orders when he stabbed his family to death.
40-year-old Brian Christopher Sullivan was in court yesterday for a preliminary hearing.
Witnesses testified that Sullivan told them the world would condemn what he had done, but he would have fulfilled Heavenly Father's will.
Yesterday, the judge bound Sullivan over to trial.
Sullivan is charged with two counts of capital murder for the deaths of his wife, LaRae Marara and 4-year-old daughter, Kehaulani Niu Sullivan back in February of 2003.
Sullivan has been in jail for almost two years now. He's undergone mental competency evaluations and both defense attorneys and prosecutors agree he's competent to stand trail.
If convicted he could face the death penalty.
