MIDVALE, Utah (AP) -- Not many were laughing after a brawl broke out during a concert where five metal bands performed at a comedy club.
The Comedy Circuit often holds concerts before the regular comedy routines on Saturday nights, but the doors for the concert were opened late by the outside promoter.
That forced bands to shorten their sets, upsettting some of the 100 or so audience members.
A people reportedly attempted to take over the venue during the final minutes of a set by local metal group Hatepiece. The band played on as the would-be brawlers scuffled with security guards, who witnesses say were pulled into the crowd and beaten.
Police say several members of the band were injured and others suffered minor cuts and bruises as most of the fans tried to make their way out of the club.
They had all fled by the time police arrived so no arrests were made, said Midvale Sgt. Ken Jarvis.
Club employee Abe Carlsruh, who was monitoring the sound from the second-floor balcony, said the club's nightly comedy program began only 10 minutes late.
