(KSL News) -- A unique request by attorneys representing a woman accused of killing her ex-husband.

They want believers in "blood atonement" to be excluded from the jury pool.

Tamara Rhinehart is charged in the shooting death of Michael Boudrero.

Blood atonement is a belief that shedding the blood of a guilty person is the only proper penance for murder.

Rhinehart's boyfriend initially confessed to shooting Boudrero and signed a plea agreement. However, he has since asked to withdraw his plea, saying he was forced to sign it.
