(AP) -- Salt Lake County's mayor wants to make sure the county and its officials have ethics. That's why Mayor Peter Corroon is assembling a permanent citizens panel to make recommendations on ethics in Salt Lake County.
He wants to expand on last year's reform package. He wants to eliminate gift-giving, posting contractor information on the county Web site and auditing all county departments.
The county's chief administrative officer says most of the ideas are still in draft form and roughly 90 days from reaching the County Council.
The independent ethics panel would filter complaints, convene investigations and arrange ethics training for county employees.
The panel would also serve as "another independent body" to which employees may report whistle-blower cases.
