Kimberly Houk ReportingA 17-year old Draper girl is found safe tonight after she had been missing for more than 24 hours.
A UTA officer noticed 17-year old Grace Beh walking down the street just after 2 o'clock this afternoon. He says he knew immediately it was the missing girl police were searching for. She was taken to the hospital for a routine check-up, and then reunited with her family.
Gordon Beh, Grace's Father: "She's doing great. They found her this afternoon as you all know."
Grace Beh had been missing since 8:30 yesterday morning. Her mother dropped her off at a Trax station in Sandy. She was supposed to ride the train to a doctor's appointment. At noon the doctor's office called her mother. Grace never made it to her appointment.
Grace was known to be friendly with strangers, so the Beh's were nervous their daughter befriended the wrong person. They say she's mentally challenged and not capable of keeping herself safe. But this is not something new, Beh has wandered off in the past.
Sgt. Scott Peck, Draper City Police: "It's fairly common for Grace, and most of the cops have been to her house dealing with her, and she either leaves for an hour or maybe four hours for the most, but she doesn't ever go for 24 hours, and that's why we're concerned about this. "
But now that she's been found police are focusing their efforts on trying to figure out what happened to Beh while she was missing. They don't know where she spent the night or why she ended up more than 20 blocks away from her doctor's office, but police say Beh claims to have been assaulted, a charge their checking into.
As for now, her parents are just thankful she's been found.
Police interviewed Beh at the hospital, hoping that she could help them piece together what happened to her. .
