SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The American Red Cross will present an award to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints today for their efforts to help prevent measles.

Today, the president of the Red Cross will give the L-D-S church the "Circle of Humanitarians Award" for its ongoing support of a measles vaccination campaign.
Red Cross officials will meet with church leaders to accept a 1 (M)million dollar donation on behalf of the Measles Initiative.
Every year, nearly 700-thousand children die from measles around the world, nearly half live in Africa.
The Measles Initiative is a partnership designed to vaccinate 200 (M)million kids in Africa, saving 1-point-2-million lives.
