(KSL News) -- A deputy saved a prisoner's life on Interstate-215 today.

The deputy arrested Albert Garcia at a Maverick in the Fort Union area. Garcia was wanted for DUI. While riding to jail in the deputy's car, Garcia said he wanted to die and tried to jump out.

The deputy grabbed Garcia by the hair and held him in a head lock until other officers arrived.

Garcia kicked one of the deputies and tried to run into oncoming traffic. Officers had to shoot Garcia with a taser gun five times to calm him down.
