PROVO, Utah (AP) -- Utah County commissioners voted to no longer participate in the Moutainland Association of Governments.

M-A-G is the regional agency that oversees transportation planning and aging services in Utah, Wasatch and Summit counties.

Yesterday, commissioners voted 2 to 1 to get out of the quasi-official government agency it has been a part of since the early 1970's. Commissioners Steve White and Jerry Grover say M-A-G is neither effective nor accountable.

M-A-G Executive Director Darrell Cook said he was stunned and that it has never happened in the history of the organization. He said he still hopes to get the county to chart a different course.
