(KSL News) The streets near 4700 South and 2200 West were closed Wednesday morning following a traffic wreck involving a UHP car and two other vehicles.
Two people, including a Utah Highway Patrol trooper, were hurt in the multi-car crash. It happened around 8 o'clock, in Salt Lake County.
Investigators say the driver of a white Mustang tried to make a U-turn on 4700 South and 2100 West. As it pulled forward, a truck and a Highway Patrol vehicle going westbound hit it. The driver of the Mustang was ejected from the car.
Sgt. Rosie Rivera, Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office: "Just did a u-turn right in front of them and both struck him so quickly."
Authorities say two people were injured. The driver of the car was ejected from the vehicle. He was taken by Life Flight helicopter to the hospital in critical condition. The female UHP officer was taken to the hospital by ambulance with knee injuries. Two other people involved in the wreck were checked out at the scene but were not injured.
The trooper has been identified as Michelle McLaughlin. Eyewitness News interviewed McLaughlin on Monday, about driving safety on the roads. She has been with the U-H-P for six years.
Authorities are still investigating the crash.
