Sandra Yi reportingThree people are in jail after police busted what they say is a Salt Lake prostitution house.

Concerned neighbors called police about suspicious activity coming from two homes near 216 W. 965 South. Officers say they eventually found that there was prostitution activity going on in the homes.
After undercover operation by detectives, a search warrant was obtained. They served it yesterday evening.
Three people -- Jesus Alvarez-Herrera, Maria Rojas-Hernandez and Patricia Harow Jiminez -- were arrested for prostitution, and possessing illegal firearms and drugs.
Investigators also found one gun and some meth in the home.
Det. Kevin Joiner, Salt Lake City Police Dept.: "I would stop short of saying we had a brothel there. That is to be determined through the investigation. We did have prostitution activity coming and going from the two residences."

Police say the three people arrested yesterday were the only ones in the homes at the time, but more arrests are possible as the case is still under investigation.
One neighbor says the two homes sat empty for a few months.
Neighbor: "You have to get used to that stuff living in this area of town. There's drugs and prostitution. You can walk up and see it on 2nd west out here."
The neighbor did not want to be identified.
He credits the cops for patrolling the area and trying to clean the neighborhood up. But he says the problems just keep coming back.
Police say they will respond to problems people call them about. They encourage people to watch for suspicious activity like a lot of short-term traffic and people coming and going at all hours of the night.
