(KSL News) -- A seven-year-old is home safe with his grandparents after a kidnapping scare.
Alexander Chido was on his way home from a movie yesterday when his father took off with the boy. Corey Chido is only allowed supervised visits with his son.
The boy's grandparents notified police after repeated phone calls to the father.
Sgt. Yvette Rice, Utah County Sheriff's Office: "We do know he does have a history with drugs, don't know if it would be considered abuse, some drug use. I do know there is a protective order in effect."
Police issued an Amber Alert early this morning and Salt Lake City police located the father at the parking lot of a grocery store on 700 N. Redwood Road.
The boy was found safe at the home of an acquaintance shortly after.
