(KSL News) A car thief finds himself at the end of the road and behind bars following a high speed chase.
Salt Lake County sheriff's deputies were following the man around 11:30 last night. They say he was driving a stolen car.
Deputies say after a few minutes, the driver realized he was being followed and sped off.
Lt. Jon Fassett/ Salt Lake County Sheriff's Dept.: "Part of our concern was that he was endangering people anyway. So at that point, we decided that it would be best for us to stop the vehicle and take him into custody."
Speeds reached 80 miles an hour. Deputies spiked his tires. Then the driver pulled over at 6000th South and ran off.
A K-9 unit with West Jordan police found him minutes later in a nearby backyard. The 21 -year- old is now in jail, facing several charges.
