SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A Utah Senator will resign after being tapped for the state's Public Service Commission by Governor Huntsman.
Senate Minority Whip Ron Allen of Stansbury Park will succeed Connie White, who has served on the commission for 10 years.
Allen's resignation won't be official until his nomination is approved by the Senate and his successor is named.
The Public Service Commission is a three-member body, whose members are appointed to six-year terms by the governor. It regulates state utilities to protect consumers and ensure Utah has safe, reliable and reasonably priced utility services.
Allen has been in the legislature for six years.
