SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A woman accused of embezzling thousands from the Salt Lake County Housing Authority has been charged.

53-year-old Tawnlethia Freeman is charged with one count of second-degree felony theft. She's accused of embezzling nearly six-thousand dollars while she was an employee of the housing authority.

Freeman, who handled mailings and a postage machine, allegedly told police she kept the money from unauthorized refunds from spoiled postage from April of 2004 to October of 2004.
