SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The Salt Lake County has severed its ties to the Kearns Town Council.
The county cited inappropriate procurement of federal grant money totaling roughly one million dollars.
According to Peter Corroon the Town Council abused its power to attain the grants then funnel the money to a nonprofit.
Corroon says the issue has consumed the Kearns council and led to infighting and has hampered their ability of work together.
The county wants the council to reorganize, adopt new bylaws, change its name to a community council, hold new elections, then reapply for county recognition.
